Yet it only takes a few simple rules of conduct to securely transact financial business when out and about, too.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Over half of all financial transactions are handled via a mobile phone today. Mobile banking apps often offer additional functionality in this regard, like invoice scanning via your camera or push notifications of transactions. Despite its huge popularity though, many users feel unsure whether mobile banking is just as secure as classic e-banking. Here, some simple measures can play a decisive part in your secure and comfortable use of mobile banking apps.<\/p>\n<p>The first step is to minimise general risks when using mobile device. This includes activating your automatic screen lock using a PIN, <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Password&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Serves for authentication. This means agreeing on and using a character string for someone, usually a person, to identify themselves and confirming their own identity this way.&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;A &amp;lt;a href=&amp;quot;https:\/\/www.ebas.ch\/en\/4-protecting-online-access\/&amp;quot;&amp;gt;good password&amp;lt;\/a&amp;gt; should have at least 12 characters and consist of numbers, upper and lower case letters as well as special characters.&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\n\" data-mobile-support=\"0\" data-gt-translate-attributes=\"[{&quot;attribute&quot;:&quot;data-cmtooltip&quot;, &quot;format&quot;:&quot;html&quot;}]\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">password<\/span>, <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Fingerprint&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;This is a process which makes it possible to check a cryptographic key without having to match the whole key. This can for instance be used to check the authenticity of a certificate upon which a TLS\/SSL connection is based. A fingerprint is usually displayed as a hexadecimal character string consisting of the letters A-F and the numbers 0-9.&lt;\/div&gt;\n\" data-mobile-support=\"0\" data-gt-translate-attributes=\"[{&quot;attribute&quot;:&quot;data-cmtooltip&quot;, &quot;format&quot;:&quot;html&quot;}]\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">fingerprint<\/span> or face recognition, installing any <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Operating system&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;A program run on a device to manage system resources, such as processor, storage media and input and output devices, and which offers these resources to application programs (software). Some well-known operating systems are Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS.&lt;\/div&gt;\n\" data-mobile-support=\"0\" data-gt-translate-attributes=\"[{&quot;attribute&quot;:&quot;data-cmtooltip&quot;, &quot;format&quot;:&quot;html&quot;}]\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">operating system<\/span> and app updates promptly and having an antivirus app installed on Android devices.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure that all apps on your device originate from an official store, i.e. the Apple app store, Google Play Store or Samsung Galaxy Store. You should be suspicious of apps with a low reputation and recommendations by people you don&rsquo;t know.<\/p>\n<p>Your mobile device can establish a connection to the Internet and your financial institution in several ways. If you are using a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebas.ch\/en\/wlan\/\">Wi-Fi<\/a> connection while on the move, you should check it keeps any transactions confidential. Especially &ldquo;free <span class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;This is a cable-free, local network or a wireless network. This can also be called Wi-Fi.&lt;\/div&gt;\n\"  data-mobile-support=\"0\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]' tabindex='0' role='link'>Wi-Fi<\/span>&rdquo; networks offered while you are out and about, such as those at an airport, in a hotel lobby or a restaurant, for instance during your holidays, should only be used with caution. If needs be, you can secure any connection to your bank via a <span class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Virtual Private Network (VPN)&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Designates a virtual private (self-contained) communications network.
