All three were exploited by internet criminals for dubious investment transactions without their permission. Time and again, you can find lurid articles circulating in social media stating that some celebrity or other is supposed to have racked up huge profits with an investment such as one into <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Cryptocurrency&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Cryptocurrencies are digital means of exchange\/payment or assets using cryptographic techniques to ensure a payment system is secure. When systems are being paralysed by malware, cyber-criminals usually demand a cryptocurrency payment (e.&amp;nbsp;g. bitcoins) to make tracing impossible.&lt;\/div&gt;\n\" data-mobile-support=\"0\" data-gt-translate-attributes=\"[{&quot;attribute&quot;:&quot;data-cmtooltip&quot;, &quot;format&quot;:&quot;html&quot;}]\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">cryptocurrency<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>This scam also shows up in the current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncsc.admin.ch\/ncsc\/de\/home\/dokumentation\/berichte\/lageberichte\/halbjahresbericht-2022-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">half-yearly report of the Nationales Zentrum f&uuml;r Cybersicherheit NCSC<\/a><u>:<\/u> <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Investment fraud&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Investment fraud refers to a type of fraud where investors are persuaded to invest in projects or products with the help of fake or misleading information. Such investment opportunities are often fictitious, severely over-valued or have their risks deliberately concealed. Such scams aim to obtain money from investors by promising unrealistically high yields or benefits.&lt;\/div&gt;\n\" data-mobile-support=\"0\" data-gt-translate-attributes=\"[{&quot;attribute&quot;:&quot;data-cmtooltip&quot;, &quot;format&quot;:&quot;html&quot;}]\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">Investment fraud<\/span> is one of the offences involving the highest amounts of damage. Over the first six month of the year, the <span class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC)&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is the competence centre of the Federation for cyber security and hence the first port of call for businesses, administration, educational institutions and the population for any questions involving cyber security. It is responsible for the coordinated implementation of the Nationale Cyberstrategie (NCS, National Cyber Strategy).&lt;\/div&gt;\n\"  data-mobile-support=\"0\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]' tabindex='0' role='link'>NCSC<\/span> was notified of cases involving damage sums in excess of three million Swiss Francs, with six-figure losses per case not uncommon.<\/p>\n<p>That fraudulent investment offers are having such a boom at the moment is due to the currently unattractive inflation and interest situation.
