Your bank will never use any messages requesting you to log in

Phishing is becoming ever more professional. Artificial intelligence helps fraudsters create e-mails and text messages which look legitimate – even in the name of your bank. There is one simple rule to help you recognise scamming attempts.

A message from your bank which includes a link to your e-banking facility? Beware! Swiss banks will never use an e-mail or text message to ask their customers to log into their e-banking facility via a link.

Even if a message looks legitimate: Don’t click the link! Instead, open your banking app directly or enter the Internet address of your bank you are familiar with into your browser yourself.

This is because artificial intelligence helps make phishing messages ever more convincing. Spelling mistakes or clumsy language have long since been no longer a reliable warning sign.

European Cybersecurity Month: Think before you click

The European Cybersecurity Month takes place every October to remind us: Cyber security also begins with our everyday behaviour.

Our tip: Always use your official app or the official website to open your e‑banking facility – never any link contained in a message. Pause for a moment, open it yourself – and stay secure.
