Windows 8.1: End of Life (EOL)

Not long to go now: On 10th January 2023 Microsoft will provide the last bug fix for Windows 8.1. After that date, there will be no more updates – not even to close any security gaps.

For security reasons, you should therefore no longer be using Windows 8.1 after 10th January 2023. Microsoft recommends users update Windows 8.1 to a later, still supported windows version such as 10 or 11 instead. This presupposes though that the old systems still running Windows 8.1 will also support later Windows versions. Otherwise Microsoft recommends purchasing a new device.

The date up to which Microsoft will be providing updates for Windows 10 and other Microsoft products can be found here.
